Vitamin E was discovered in 1922 by Herbert Evans and Katherine Bishop, researchers at the University of California, as part of a study on green leafy vegetables. Today, research shows that the powerful benefits of vitamin E extend virtually from head to toe.
About 8 Tocopherol have been identified and Alpha Tocopherol is most Active.
The Tocopherol are derivatives of 6-hydroxy chromane (tocol) ring with isoprenoid side chain. The antioxidant property is due to the chromane ring.
